A few months ago, I put out a public request on Facebook seeking views on weather Lae Police Metropolitan Superintendent, Anthony Wagambie Jr, should be nominated for as Divine Word University Distinguished Alumni of 2018.
Public opinion was overwhelmingly positive. In fact, everyone who commented and responded recommended that he be nominated.
Anthony Wagambie graduated from Divine Word Institute as it used to be known then in 1994. He then joined the Royal papua New Guinea Constabulary (RPNGC). Over the last 20 years, he had held various commands and served in various capacities.
For those who know him, Anthony Wagambie, is not the kind of guy who seeks recognition like this. Let me state on record that, he ALWAYS tries to find a way out receiving accolades and praise. So it took a lot of convincing before he filled in the nomination forms. We had to physically take it to his office and sit there while he printed out his resume and signed the documents. 😀
I am posting this publicly because, the award not only belongs to Anthony Wagambie but to the people of Lae City who supported his work, called for the nomination and continue to support the work of his team of fine police officers.
It’s a pleasure to announce that Mr. Wagambie was selected and presented the award today in Madang in the presence of the DWU community, his family his wife, Gertrude and members of the Australian Federal Police.
Congratulations, Sir!
Well deserved. Congratulations from me and my family. We continue to support and follow his progress in his career just as we did with his father. God bless him and his family and keep them safe.
